Thomas More Smith, PhD

Dr. Smith is a Consultant for AAL and works extensively in the areas of labor economics, pricing, sports economics and finance, the economics of the entertainment industry, the economics of the health care industry, and film finance. He is a rotational instructor for AAL’s CAAMP program. Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. in labor and demography/cultural economics and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is an Associate Professor in the Practice of Finance at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

He regularly appears as an expert on national television and radio programming (CNN, NPR, Huffington Post) and is frequently quoted in popular press regarding trends in unemployment, inflation, trade and other macroeconomic trends. Media exposure includes NBC, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and New York Times, to name a few. Dr. Smith has held faculty positions at the University of Illinois–Chicago, National-Louis University, Loyola University, and North Central College. He has presented dozens of papers at academic and professional conferences in the U.S. and abroad.
